Continental and Zucchetti: Integrated Digital Processes for More Sustainable Mobility

The new HR Alliance between Zucchetti and VDO Italia, a brand of the Continental Group, provides mobility solutions (tachograph systems and services for hauliers) that comply with the regulations but also allow optimised fleet management

The Alliance operations that Zucchetti has been carrying out in the past few years are continuing at full speed, so customers can benefit from additional hardware and software solutions in the Human Resources sector. Specifically, Continental Italia, with its brand VDO, has joined the programme of strategic alliances. This company is specialised in the development of innovative technologies and services for the sustainable and connected mobility of people and things.

The recently signed agreement will give fleets the opportunity to have at their disposal a safe and powerful tool that integrates the driver attendance function with the vehicle route tracking feature. The Alliance project combines Zucchetti HR software with the VDO Fleet platform, to integrate personnel management processes with vehicle tachograph data in accordance with the regulations; one of the aims is also to reduce the need for on-site travel, because information is managed digitally, centrally and in real time.

Thanks to VDO, the first European producer of tachographs, it is now possible in Italy to facilitate the management of each trip in a more efficient and sustainable way. There are several options available: tachograph management (management and analysis of driver and vehicle files, for compliance with the relevant laws); automatic data download (to make the process of transferring data from the tachograph and driver card automatically); VDO Academy (high school for training drivers and companies in the field of tachographs); VDO Fleet Management (complete fleet management, from geolocation to vehicle and driver data management). All this is based on the DTCO 4.1, the new smart tachograph, a device that facilitates and increases the efficiency of the fleet’s daily activities more than ever before.

Marco Morelli, Zucchetti Product Manager of HR Solutions for SMEs, spoke of the operation. “Another favourable chance to turn a regulatory obligation into a business opportunity. Only thanks to technology is it possible to be legally compliant but also simultaneously manage your business with maximum security, rationalisation of resources and precision, while also saving considerable amounts of time,” he commented. “As a leader in personnel management and fleet management solutions, Zucchetti has seen in this Alliance the possibility of providing additional added value to customers in terms of digitisation of processes and sustainability.”

“With this alliance, the market leaders in tachographs and HR solutions, share their skills to allow their customers to benefit from the interconnection between systems,” commented Andrea Codazzi, Sales Channel Fleets Manager of Continental Automotive Trading Italia srl.

“Transport companies will thus be able to take advantage of the data from digital tachographs processed by VDO software, to manage driver attendance in a simple and secure way.

The value of this synergy is even more significant considering that VDO Fleet is the software used by the [Italian] National Labour Inspectorate when checking for tachograph data infringements. Consequently, this allows transport companies to benefit from homogeneity in the use and evaluation of the data they manage.”
